Pool fountains are a highly under-rated feature to add to your swimming pool.

Whether floating or not, a fountain is an awesome pool accessory for your backyard oasis:

• Cools the temperature of the pool. When the fountain blasts water into the air, it is aerating the water, cooling it. For pool owners in really hot areas, or who have pools that get sun all day long, this is a quick and consistent way to keep the pool refreshing and comfortable.
• Background noise. Summer is a noisy and busy time. A pool fountain is an excellent form of white noise that is calming and simultaneously drowns out neighborhood noise.
• Looks great. The aesthetic value of a pool fountain is a given. Whether you use a floating pool fountain or attach it to the side of the pool, there’s something about arcing water that simply looks awesome.
• Combo light-fountains. As you will see in the list of our favorite pool fountains, you can also add a touch of light to the water with pool fountains that also light up.

Now, I know what you are probably thinking…

These things must be expensive and a pain in the buttocks to install.

Not so.

Despite the long list of benefits, there are plenty of pool fountains that are budget-friendly and relatively easy to install.

Whether you have an in-ground pool or an above ground swimming pool, here is a breakdown of our favorite pool fountains.

Poolmaster Swimming Pool Fountain

Works great for both in-ground and above-ground swimming pools, has an adjustable head so that you can adjust spray height and direction, and is painless to install.

The fountain is made of durable PVC plastic and can be quickly hooked up to the jets of your pool. For pool owners who live in particularly hot areas, installing this on your backyard pool will help cool the temperature of the pool water.

Hooli Home Pool Fountain

The Hooli Home Pool Fountain looks like your basic PVC pool fountain—until you see it at night. The fountainhead turns into a glow stick, softly illuminating your pool while also providing that calming and cooling effect of a standard pool fountain.

The fountain can be used to fit any 1.5-inch threaded return jet (works with most in-ground pools and some above ground pools), and with clear instructions, you should be up and running in a few minutes.

Swimline Triple Tier Floating Pool Fountain

Swimline is one of my favorite makers of pool equipment and accessories, and this simple three-tier floating pool fountain brings it. Straight-forward and easy to set-up, the fountain comes with a fountainhead, base, plumbing kit, and an anchor to keep it positioned properly in the pool.

The spray height can be adjusted from 7 to 16-feet. Be aware that using a pool fountain will aerate your water, which will cool the pool and also raise the pH of the water. With its flower-shaped float and adjustable fountain, the Swimline Triple Tier is a good-looking addition to any pool.

Splash-a-Round Waterfall and Spray Fountain

Another no-frills PVC pool fountain is this offering from Splash-a-Round. Threaded to an existing pool pump, the Splash-a-Round can be quickly installed and adjusted to give your pool a cooling and soothing fountain.

They can be purchased in singles or in packs of five, and the Splash-a-Round pool fountain will drop the pool temperature (handy on these excruciatingly hot days in the backyard pool).

For those of you who live in really hot areas, the aerated water means some will get evaporated, which will require you to add pool water every so often. GAME Underwater Light Show and Floating Pool Fountain

If you are looking for a fountain that also delivers a high-powered light show, the GAME Underwater Light Show and Fountain is your best bet.
